Man Dies from Injuries Sustained in Caddo County Accident

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a Springerville, Arizona man has died at OU Medical Center after sustaining serious injuries in a one vehicle accident June 9th on Interstate 40, six miles west of Hinton, in Caddo County. 43 Year old Michael Dean Peters died Tuesday. Peters was a passenger in a vehicle and was ejected an unknown distance after the driver lost control, entered a broad slide and rolled the vehicle.

Washita County Arrest

The Washita County Sheriff's Department has released information surrounding a domestic situation at a rural residence south of Canute on Saturday. Sheriff's officials say a male subject who lived at the residence had made threats of harm to himself and others. Authorities say the decision was made to call the Oklahoma Highway Patrol's tactical team to handle the situation since the man was inside the home with two other family members and since weapons were inside the residence. Law enforcement entered the home via a search warrant and arrested the subject who was turned over to the Washita County Sheriff's Department. The suspect has been booked into the Washita county justice center. He is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow.

Ramirez Preliminary Hearing Waived in Custer County District Court

A California man has waived a preliminary hearing in Custer County District Court and will be formally arraigned next Monday on several charges. 29 Year old Isreal Udave Ramirez faces various charges including assault and battery with means to produce death and endangering others while attempting to elude police. Court records show that on January 2nd, Ramirez allegedly got into a high speed chase with Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers near Clinton. During the incident, Ramirez reportedly ran one vehicle off the road. The pursuit ended at the 52 mile marker, west of Clinton, when troopers used a tactical vehicle intervention causing the truck Ramirez was driving to spin into the center median.

Elk City I-40 at State Highway 6 Detour

The eastbound Interstate 40 on-ramp from State Highway 6 in Elk City will be closed through late summer as part of the on-going diverging diamond interchange reconstruction project. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says the detour is eastbound I-40 Business to I-40 east. In 2015, the existing twin bridges on State Highway 6 over I-40 were deemed structurally deficient, meaning the roadway is safe for travel, but in dire need of repair. Drivers are encouraged to plan additional travel time in the area.

Aaron Payne Guilty Plea

A Weatherford man has pleaded guilty in Custer County District Court to a misdemeanor charge of threatening to perform an act of violence. 33 year old Aaron Dwight Payne Sr., made threats against a female victim. Payne was given a suspended six month county jail sentence. Prosecutors dismissed a charge of larceny of an automobile against Payne.

Fatal Accident on I-40 near Foss

One person is dead following a one vehicle accident Saturday on Interstate 40 approximately 1 mile east of Foss. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 76 year old Richardo Aquino of Porter Ranch, California died at the scene when his vehicle departed the interstate and rolled an unknown number of times.

Free Mobile Clinic at SWOSU Weatherford in mid-July

A free non-profit mobile clinic will be in Weatherford next month to deliver high-quality dental, vision, and medical care to underserved and uninsured individuals. The remote area medical clinic will offer services free of charge and I.D. is not required. The event will be held on the SWOSU Weatherford campus July 13th and 14th. Officials say the clinic parking lot will open no later than 12am Saturday, July 13th. Ticket distribution typically begins around 3am, and patients will be seen in chronological order according to their ticket number when clinic doors open at 6am. The process will repeat on Sunday, July 14th.

Accident in Clinton

A California man was last listed in critical condition at OU Medical Center following an accident on westbound Interstate 40 2 miles east of Clinton yesterday. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 50 year old Jant Pannell was driving his motorcycle in the left lane and was contacted by another motorcycle and semi as they tried to pass on the right.

Two Ripley, Tennessee residents are hospitalized at OU medical center following a motorcycle accident yesterday on Interstate 40 at the 66 mile marker in Clinton. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 63 year old Joe Garrison is hospitalized and in critical condition. A passenger on the motorcycle, 61 year old Marilyn Garrison was last listed in serious condition. Troopers say Joe Garrison was driving west on I-40 when his motorcycle ran off the side of the interstate and struck a cable barrier, throwing both occupants.
